How To Make 7 Million Per Year With Printables: Sarah Titus

How To Make 7 Million Per Year With Printables: Sarah Titus

I think it’s due for some inspiration.

Today we’ll look at a story of a woman called Sarah Titus who made more than $22 million-selling printables and hopefully it’ll inspire you to try doing the same thing with your own printable business!

If you’re wondering how you can make money creating and selling printables, I have a step-by-step guide right here

And here are 23 printables you can sell on Etsy.

Let’s go!

Who is Sarah Titus?

The above screenshot of her was taken from her site, you can check it out here

Sarah Titus became homeless at some point when her ex-husband went on a spree of cheating and got several women pregnant. He left her and her two kids without any aid.

Sarah first started selling on eBay to bring in some money for herself and her children.

She had stayed home with the kids for the entire duration of her kids’ lives and really didn’t want to leave them with a sitter while she works so she sought to make sure she could make a living online.

The judge gave her 1 year to make $1000 online enough for her to cover their basic expenses. She had told the judge that she’ll make $500 per month from eBay and $500 per month from her blog.

One year later, she has achieved exactly that and more!

When Sarah was making a full-time income from her blog it was back in 2013. Flash forward a few years, in the summer of 2017, she started her Shopify store selling printables.

Within her first month selling printables, she was able to rake in over $50,000!

She also made a quarter of a million 4 months into selling her printables.

In total, she made over $22 million from selling her printables.

In a separate post on her blog, Sarah stated that she’s making $7 million per year from her online business.

How did she get started?

Sarah started her online business by selling on eBay and soon after, she started her blog where she made over $10,000 per month one year into blogging.

A few years later in 2017, Sarah started her printable store and made over $50,000 in her first month.

Sarah has a printable store on Shopify.

How much is Sarah Titus making now?

Sarah made more than $22 million selling printables in the last several years.

She started her printable shop in mid-2017. In less than 6 years, she has made more than $22 million.

That doesn’t include the money she made from her blog and from selling her courses.

Yes, the entire $22 million was from her printables.

She’s currently making over $7 million per year from her printable online business.

Below is a screenshot from Sarah Titus’s income report. You can check it out here

For an entire year in 2021, Sarah made $6.88 million dollars on her Shopify store selling printables.

Here’s more of her 2021 stat.

She has gotten more than 620,000 pageviews in 2021 with a bounce rate of 50% and an average session duration of 2:43.

From 2017 (when she started her shop) to 2021, Sarah made the following amount from her printable business.

  • 2017 ($925,762 or $0.92 million)
  • 2018 ($3,007,705 or $3 million)
  • 2019 ($3,760,766 or $3.76 million)
  • 2020 ($7,594,470 or $7.58 million)
  • 2021 ($6,884,968 or $6.88 million)

It wasn’t even a slow rise to success. In fact, Sarah Titus has blown it out of the water by pulling in almost a million dollars in her first year selling printables!

And to think, 2017 wasn’t even that long ago.

2017 was the year I started attending university and as of today May 2022, it’s almost 1 year since I graduated (virtually because of covid).

In less than 6 years’ time, Sarah was able to build herself a second empire aside from her already successful blog (which no doubt contributed to her success selling printables).

Her accomplishment was for sure impressive and she continues to rake in tons of money today from selling her printables.

She also has courses to teach others how to do the same.

What we can learn from Sarah Titus’s story

Admittedly I believe Sarah got into blogging at a time when the competition was less intense (2013) but it still doesn’t take away her extraordinary achievement in handling her eBay business, blog, and raising her kids all by herself while going through the emotional battle of a divorce.

I do not believe that most bloggers would have as much success with their blogs as fast as Sarah did if they started today.

A 7-figure blogger whose name I will not divulge in this article (because that’s for another post) has made more than a million less than 2 years into blogging but he had established over 3000 backlinks in his first year and spent a ton of money hiring writers and using AI to help him with article writing and linkbuilding. His professional connections also helped him get many high-quality backlinks from sites with DA over 70.

For most of us, it would be near impossible to get so many backlinks in such a short period of time and thus I wouldn’t bet on making a million from blogging in a year anytime soon.

Printables, on the other hand, who knew that printables could make you so much money?

If you got an eye for design this would be a match made in heaven for you. Design can be fun and who knew you could make so much money doing what you love?

Lots of people flock into the health niche, technology niche, or the personal finance niche when starting a brand thinking that’s where the big money is when they neglect to look at the printable business.

The great thing about printables is that you make them once and you can sell them forever for however many times you want.

If you can get a lot of people on your mailing list, your work is really just sending your subscribers emails once in a while to promote your products. And of course, you’d also have to push out new listings once in a while.

Take a look at the screenshot below. It’s Sarah’s screenshot of where her traffic comes from.

You can see that most of her traffic comes from direct traffic meaning someone typed in the exact link into Google or clicked on it via the emails she sent out. The latter is more likely the case.

You see, her success lies in her mailing list.

Quite a big chunk of her traffic to her store come from referral as well which means someone shared the links to her printables with other people (it’s good that people aren’t just giving their friends free copies of the printables).

You can also see that a very few percent of her traffic to her shop was organic. This means very few people find her shop through Google search. You don’t even have to bother with SEO and increase domain authority if your priority is to sell printables.

There is also only a little traffic from social media. This means you shouldn’t spend too much time marketing on social media. It’s just not worth it.

Besides, if social media giants’ algorithms pick up that you’re sending users off their platform onto someone else’s, they’ll recommend your account less to people.

Those are some huge news. Let’s break down what that means:

Sarah was able to make so many sales because she already had a mailing list before she began selling

Most of her shop traffic comes from direct traffic. The most likely scenario is that she gave the direct link to her shop and items in her emails. That’s how she drives most of her traffic.

If you don’t have an email list, you’ll have to build it first.

You can start your shop on Etsy in the beginning. Give all your customers a link to your shop off Etsy where they can get their freebies or discount. They’ll give you their email addresses so you can market directly to them later on.

Sarah divulged that the only time she ran a Facebook ad was a couple of months in February but all her traffic was organic. She didn’t pay for it.

Sarah also didn’t have an affiliate program on her shop so those were genuine shares customers made for her printables.

Sarah has a compelling story to tell. One that is genuine and touched many’s hearts. This for sure drove many to follow her story on her blog which in turn led to more sales when she finally opened her printable store.

Sarah Titus’s advice

In an interview done with Sarah that MomBeach published (you can read it here), Sarah give some advice for those who are looking to start their own printable shops.

  • Use professional software

Sarah advised against using free software like Canva to create your designs as you need to go “above and beyond”.

Personally, I think Sarah has a lot of beautiful designs but quite a bit of her designs looks a bit outdated. They look like they were made 10 years ago for middle age moms in their 40s and 50s but I’m sure every one of different age groups appreciates different styles of designs.

I’m in my early 20s so my taste is a bit different. You can easily create modern designs with a simple tool like Canva without learning how to use Photoshop or Illustrator. Adobe Cloud can be very expensive if you aren’t a student.

  • Open your own store on your own platform

Sarah said that she doesn’t like competing with “50 billion other printables” on Etsy (the number isn’t actually that high, don’t worry) where sellers can undercut each other.

Sarah instead, sells through her own website (a Shopify store) where she could charge $30, or $40 instead of pennies.

She further stated how you may need 50,000 clicks to make $500 whereas, on her own site, she could make $500 with just 1000–3000 clicks.

She said that because she prefers selling and making more money on her own site, she knows how paramount it is to drive traffic to her shop which brings us to the next point.

  • Offer really good freebies

Sarah provides really good freebies on her site.

For example, take a look at the following:

It’s a 1,100+ free Christian printables which include free binders, coloring pages, stickers, planners, etc.

Or this example below:

It is my belief that Sarah started out giving her subscribers 650+ pages of daily calendar and sticker printables in return.

Sarah’s strategy is offering really good freebies that people can’t ignore so they’ll check it out.

When someone lands on her site, they’ll see that she has other things on sale and they may feel compelled to check it out and buy from her especially when she’s giving away so much value for free.

Customers will also talk about her business through word of mouth if they’re happy with what they’ve gotten.

  • Prioritize growing your email list

The money is in the email list. You really want to build your email list if you want to make millions per year selling printables on your own site. You just can’t do so as easily on someone else’s sites like CreativeMarket and Etsy because you’d be competing with tens of thousands of other listings.

In all the documents you give to your customers, you should include a link to your own site where they can get their freebies.

Once customers signed up to your mailing list and get their freebies, they will explore your store more and see what you have to offer.

You may also send your subscribers links to your newly released printables directly and drive traffic to your site.

Final thought

After hearing Sarah’s story I have gotta say, I’m really impressed. Enough so that I’m even thinking to myself, “Mhm, maybe I can do the same”. Maybe I can make $7 million or more per year someday too.

Money is abundant in the world. I truly think that $10 million per year isn’t as hard as most people think given the right business model, hard work, persistence, and mindset.

However, you must remember to take care of your health as you’re growing your business(es).

Health is priceless. There’s no point in getting there when you’re too sick to enjoy life.

I’m kind of being a hypocrite as I said this because it’s past midnight and I’m still working. I won’t be sleeping for another few hours while I work on pushing out more high-quality posts for my blog.

  1. Sorry but this is such a bullsh**. She had 122k unique visitors in 2021 and made almost 7 mln $? The math is not right. It would mean EVERY visitor converted with avg. Order value of 60$ to get such number. This is manipulated for sure.
