200+ Blog Niche Ideas For Your Next Blog

200+ Blog Niche Ideas For Your Next Blog

Are you thinking about starting a blog? Or do you already have a blog and you want to start another? Here are 200+ blog niche ideas for you to consider.

What is a niche?

A niche is a general topic that your blog posts would be about. For instance, if your niche is in parenthood you’d write articles such as:

  • 10 Reasons your baby is crying
  • How to deal with parental burnout
  • How to decorate your child’s room

You can see how all the articles above are about parenthood and dealing with kids.

You should pick a niche when you start a blog rather than posting about anything that comes to your mind. This can help you obtain authority in the space faster than if you were to write just anything and everything.

What is a sub-niche?

Sometimes you may want to start from a sub-niche if your niche is broad. For example, instead of starting from the “health” niche, you can start from a sub-niche in the broader health niche. Such a sub-niche could be:

  • Health for babies
  • Health for those suffering from gluten allergies
  • Health for those with diabetes

Starting from a sub-niche can help you gain authority faster than starting from a broad niche especially if you produce content slowly.

Each of your blog posts is going to take you 6–8 months to rank on Google so if you only have 100 blog posts out and all of them are scattered around in a big broad niche, it’s harder for you to establish credibility.

Imagine going into a grocery store and they only have three types of fruits for sale, two types of meat for sale, and one item in the dairy section. Would you shop your fruits there or would you much rather go to a store that sells specifically fruits? This is why niching down helps.

However, if you can produce your content fast, then, it really doesn’t matter whether you start small or large because you’ll build up a catalog of articles very soon.

How to choose a blogging niche

There are so many blogging niches to choose from and it can get overwhelming trying to narrow it down to a few. Here’s what you need to do to choose the best blogging niche for yourself

  1. Consider what niched you have existing knowledge in or are at least willing to learn
  2. Consider what niches you are passionate about
  3. Consider what niches are profitable

The best niche to choose is the niche that checks off all the boxes above. You should choose a niche that you are knowledgeable in, that you are passionate about and that is profitable.

A lot of people falsely assume that you don’t need to choose a niche that you are passionate about because if your end goal is to make money then you should just focus on niches that are profitable. Well, they are wrong. Unless you can spend lots of money hiring writers to write blog posts for you, you’ll have to write it yourself and if you don’t have passion you won’t be able to put out hundreds of blog posts and wait months for it to rank on Google. You may give up too soon upon not seeing results with your first 100 posts 1 year in.

Blogging is a lot of work and if you have the passion, it’s going to take you so much farther than someone else who is in the same niche but doesn’t have as much passion.

Similarly, you can have a lot of passion for a niche but if that niche isn’t profitable you are never going to see a dime. Or maybe you would but your effort won’t be compensated fairly. Make sure to keep this in mind when choosing a niche.

To recap:

Passion + profitable niche + knowledge (or willingness to learn) = best niche to choose

What comes after choosing a niche?

After you have chosen a niche, your next step would be to select a domain name for your blog.

A domain name is the address of your blog. For instance, this blog’s domain name is HelloMoneyTree.com and although HelloMoneyTree.co looks similar it’s not the same domain name since the extension is different.

I recommend you to stick to the .com extension as that is the most common and is less likely to be seen as spammy.

I have a full guide right here to teach you how to choose the perfect domain name for your blog. Go read now.
