How To Make Money On Fiverr With 20 Easy Gigs

How To Make Money On Fiverr With 20 Easy Gigs

Thinking about making money with freelancing? Why not start with Fiverr? Fiverr is a well-known place for freelancers to gather and find gigs. There are many gigs to choose from, let’s talk about a few that anyone can start!

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is a place for people to post gigs. A place for freelancers to connect with customers. You can offer all sorts of services on Fiverr: from drawing pictures to voice-over to building websites.

You can also purchase different types of services on Fiverr. For example, logo design, website design, app development, etc.

How much can you make on Fiverr?

If you’re successful on Fiverr
How much you can make on Fiverr depends on the niche. If you’re successful on Fiverr, you can earn an extra $500 per month on Fiverr. There are also people making $0/year on Fiverr as well as those who make over $1M per year on Fiverr.

What kind of gig do you offer?
You need to decide what kind of service you want to provide. Some people are able to charge more for their service than other people in other niches. For example, gigs in the tech niche tend to earn more money than gigs in the art niche because fewer people are able to code websites than draw pictures.

Number of reviews and ratings
Another thing that determines how much you earn is the number of your reviews and ratings. People are more likely to purchase a service from a reputable source that has a large established number of reviews and good ratings.

What is Fiverr’s choice?

When you search for a gig on Fiverr, you’ll see highlighted boxes called Fiverr’s choice.

Fiverr uses an algorithm to decide which gigs to feature in their Fiverr’s choice box. If your gig has a lot of 5 stars reviews, you’re more likely to get picked.

Fiverr introduced Fiverr’s choice to help customers quickly choose the best people to buy from.

How to get pro verified on Fiverr?

When you type in a keyword on Fiverr, you can see that some gigs have the “Pro verified” sticker. See the example below.

Pro sellers are able to charge more for their service (sometimes 5x more) than regular sellers.

In order to be pro verified, you need to be in the selected categories, you need to apply, get past the technical process, and then 2 rounds of professional evaluation.

Pro verified are only available for those in the following niches:

  • Music and audio
  • Writing and translation
  • Programming and tech
  • Animation and video
  • Digital marketing
  • Graphic and design

When you’re just starting out, don’t worry about being pro verified. Oftentimes, pro verified gigs are much more expensive and attract much fewer buyers. You may actually make more by charging a bit less and attracting more orders.

What gigs should I sell on Fiverr?

There are many different types of gigs that you can offer on Fiverr. The average amount you can charge for each gig differs. You should also choose a gig based on what you feel comfortable doing. If it’s outside of your interest and you don’t think you can learn it, then, it’s best to choose other types of gigs.

You don’t want to give up after having spent weeks trying to establish a presence on Fiverr. That would be time wasted.

I’ll include how much you can expect to earn for each type of gig but the true amount varies by expertise.

You can go on Fiverr to check your competition. See how your competitors are pricing their service, what words they use in their description, what pictures they use, etc.

1. Offer a Video editing service

Video editing isn’t actually that difficult to learn. There are many free software out there that are easy to get a hang of.

For instance, if you have a mac, you can use iMovie. It’s free and very easy to learn how to use. It’s not intuitive enough that you don’t have to Google how to find certain features but it’s beginner-friendly. You can edit audios on iMovie quite easily. If you need to add stock footage, you’ll have to download each individual clip to add to iMovie which may be time-consuming. You can use an online video editing software like ClipChamp to add the stock footage. All the stock footages are already in their system. You just have to drag and drop.

If you’re on Windows, there is MovieMaker that is free to use and beginner-friendly as well. It’s intuitive enough that you don’t have to Google how to use it but it certainly is limited in some functions as well.

You can also try other video editing software such as Da Vinci or Adobe Premier Pro. Some of the best video editing software out there aren’t free. You can get a free trial and watch some YouTube videos on how to edit videos. It may take you 1–6months to learn how to use it well. By which point, you can offer your service on Fiverr.

You can charge $50+ for 15 minutes of edited video.

2. Sell custom drawings of people and their pets

You can offer to draw people and their pets in the style of your choice. You can draw it using Illustrator or Procreate or other free software like Gimp.

If you got an iPad, I would recommend you pay the $15-$20 for a Procreate app and spend 10–30 hours learning how to use Procreate. It can open up a lot of doors for you in terms of side hustle ideas.

You can charge $10-$100+ per drawing.

3. Offer voice-over service

A lot of people need a voice-over for their YouTube videos because they don’t feel comfortable narrating it themselves or they may have a thick accent that is hard to understand. You can lend your voice to these creators.

You can also pick voice-over gigs that give you royalties so you can continue earning money after you made the recording. You can go search for people who need someone to narrate children’s books for instance.

You’ll need a microphone. I recommend BlueYeti. It’s the industry standard. Many YouTubers and voice-over artists use it.

You can charge $30 for every 100 words. If you’re good at speaking and can enunciate your words clearly without seeming too rushed, this can be an easy gig for you. It may take you 15 minutes of work and earn you $100.

4. Sing custom songs for people

There are a lot of weird gigs out there that most people won’t be comfortable with. You can offer to sing custom happy birthday songs for people (only changing out the name each time you record) or you can offer to sing a happy birthday song dressed up as Kim Jung Un. Yes, that’s a real thing. And people are willing to pay money for it.

You can charge $15 for a 1–2 minutes recording of you singing happy birthday.

5. Be a beta reader for people

What’s the difference between a beta reader and a proofreader? Well, as a proofreader, you’re catching grammatical mistakes and sentence structure errors for people. Whereas, a beta reader is someone who reads your works and gives you opinions on how the manuscript makes them feel, does it grabs their attention, is the pace too fast, does the plot flows well, is the dialogue natural, etc. A beta reader doesn’t check your grammar and sentence structure like a proofreader although some beta readers may offer such a service as well.

Some responsibilities as a beta reader:

For many people, being a beta reader is much easier than being a proofreader because you are giving your honest opinion on what the book is like to you. There’s no strict right or wrong answer like grammatical errors that a proofreader has to deal with.

You don’t need an English degree to be a proofreader. Anyone can do it.

You can make $40-$200+ for every 30k words manuscript.

6. Translate for people

If you know more than one language, this can be an easy gig for you. You’ll be translating from English to another language or from another language to English. Usually, it’s easier to translate to English than from English to another language.

You can make $5–20 for every 250 words of translation.

7. Design logo for people

Are you a graphic designer? Or maybe you got an eye for design but aren’t fully trained as a graphic designer. You can design logos for people on Fiverr. It’s actually a lot easier to design logos than most think. You can use a free tool like Canva or a paid tool like Illustrator.

You can make $30–200+ per logo.

8. Write a short story for people (be a ghostwriter)

You can be a ghostwriter for people on Fiverr. You can pick short stories to write about or longer forms of works such as a full-length 50k words novel to write.

For those who don’t know, Amazon has a KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) program where anyone can self-publish books. Most people don’t make more than $500 per year with their books but many would still like to try.

You can be a ghostwriter to ensure that you get paid for your work without having to wait months to realize your book makes you no money.

A few years ago (maybe around 2013–2018), it was a lot easier to make money on KDP with short stories, particularly in the erotica niche. The erotica niche is different from the romance niche in that it’s mostly steamy sex scenes in erotica books and a romance niche has a build-up to it. The sex scene isn’t a must in the romance genre. There were quite a few people making $3000-$5000 per month with 300–500+ short stories on KDP. Those times are gone.

But you can still make money with short stories — by being a ghostwriter! You can write for children, write for adults, write in the fiction niche, write in the non-fiction niche, etc.

You can make $130–$300+ for every 10,000 words.

9. Be a social media manager

A lot of people have social media account that they are trying to grow. You can help manage their accounts as a social media manager. You’ll handle posting, commenting, linking, scheduling, creating graphics, etc.

You can make $130 for posting 12 posts across 2 platforms.

10. Design book covers for people

You can design book covers for people’s novels or notebooks. Yes, there are people designing notebooks to sell on Amazon. The interior would be the same. The only thing different is the outside cover. You can also design notebook covers to sell on Amazon KDP yourself.

You’ll need to learn the basics of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign if you’re using those tools. It may take you 1–3+ months to learn but once you learn it, you can use the skill to make money for yourself.

You can make $20–200+ for every book cover design.

11. Set up a WordPress site for people

A lot of people want to start their own blog. What they don’t know is that for those who aren’t tech-savvy, there’s a way around setting up your WordPress site that doesn’t require you hours in front of the computer searching for a solution.

If your hosting company is HostGator, you can have them set it up for you. They’ll install the WordPress site and the SSL certificate without you touching it. They’ll also handle the DNS change and everything else.

All you need to do is to buy any hosting plan with Hostgator, you’ll be given a free 1-year domain name, then, you’ll contact live chat support (typically connected within 5–20 minutes) and ask them to set up the WordPress site and SSL certificate for you. You can literally have someone else install WordPress for you for free.

You can offer a WordPress site setup service for people who want to start a blog and easily earn a couple of hundred dollars per month.

You can also offer to set up a free theme for people. Most WordPress free themes are easy to navigate and customize.

You can make $130+ for a 1 page WordPress site setup or $534+ for a 5 pages WordPress site setup.

12. Write resumes and cover letters for people

Many people are looking for a job but hate writing resumes and cover letters. You can offer a service to help write resumes and cover letters for people.

The easiest way to do this is to create a template as well as a list of skills within an industry (ex. Software engineer) that you’re familiar with. Then, you’ll easily update and change out texts for every new customer.

It would literally take you 5–30 minutes to customize someone’s resumes and cover letters.

There are also sites that offer you free examples and templates for resumes and cover letters.

You can earn $120 for every fully customed cover letter and resume.

13. Proofread for people

You can proofread for people’s assignments, essays, resumes, cover letters, short stories, novels, etc.

The amount you can earn depends on how long the work is and what niche you’re in.

As an example, you can earn $30–$80+ for every 1000 words.

14. Make powerpoints for people

There are a lot of people who hate making PowerPoint. If you like making them or don’t mind making them, you can offer a gig to make PowerPoints for people who need them.

You can expect to earn $40–200+ for every 10 slides of basic PowerPoint.

15. Convert files for people

It’s actually very easy to convert files. Well, some types of files are harder to convert and some types are easier to convert. If you search on Fiverr, you can see people offering services to convert Word documents to PDF.

It takes 30 min — 2 hours to learn how to convert Word to PDF and how to format Word for PDF. You can use this skill to make you money.

You can earn $20 for a 3 page Word to PDF conversion.

16. Illustrate children’s storybooks

Do you like drawing? Are you good at art? Then, you should totally illustrate children’s storybooks. You’ll create samples of your drawing in your specific style to draw in customers.

If they like your work, they’ll continue to ask you to be their illustrator for their next book in the series.

You can earn $30/page — $50/page for a standard 24 pages children’s storybook.

17. Be a data entry clerk

A data entry clerk is responsible for transcribing things from paper to the computer. Your client may give you a picture of a document with letters and numbers on there. You’ll have to type it into your computer.

If you can type fast and accurately, this could be a gig for you to try.

You can make $10–20+ for every page of data entry work.

18. Be a website or app user tester

A website or app user tester is responsible for checking to see how well a website or an app functions. You may have to record yourself narrating your experience as you go along your website and/or app.

You can make $100–200+ for every 20 pages website you tested.

19. Build a chatbot for people

This definitely requires a bit more technical knowledge but you can learn how to build a chatbot on the internet for free. it may take you 1 month — 3 months+ to learn.

More and more businesses require a chatbot. It can be a booming business for you.

You can make $100 for a standard 10 interactions chat.

20. Transcribe subtitles in video

Many people need subtitles added to their audio or video. You can offer this service to people who need it.

You can make $15–$30+ for every 10 minutes of audio transcription.

Tips on selling on Fiverr

Here are some tips for those who want to make money on Fiverr.

1. Get reviews even if you have to pay for it yourself

The beginning can be tough. No one may buy from you because you don’t have an established track record to show that you know what you’re doing. This can be unethical by some standards but can speed up your business a lot.

You can buy your own service and get reviews done for the gig. Or, you can have your friends and family buy your service. Once you have gathered up 3–5+ 4 stars or 5 stars reviews, it’ll be a lot easier to draw in actual customers.

2. Don’t be afraid to charge what you’re worth

It’s a race to the bottom when you undercut other sellers. There will always be a cheaper seller but you won’t be paid what you’re worth if you try and follow that path.

There are people living in developing countries who can live on $200 per month, you can’t.

Don’t be afraid to charge what you’re worth. When customers pay more for something, they also treasure it more.

3. Download the app on your phone and turn on the notification

You can go a month without getting any order in the beginning. You can easily forget to check to see if anyone ordered something for days at a time. This is why you should download the app on your phone and turn the notification on.

4. Be patient

It’s very common for new sellers to take a month before getting their first order. Be patient. You aren’t doing anything wrong. You just need someone to take a leap of faith in you over some other sellers with numerous reviews.

In the meantime, practice your craft, make the theme pictures better, add a video, be patient.

5. Deliver gigs on time

It’s so vital that you deliver your gigs on time because it does show in your reviews if you deliver gigs late.

6. Niche down

This is one of the easiest ways to get your first order. Instead of “I’ll be a proofreader for your novel”, write “I’ll be a proofreader for your romance novel”.

People are more likely to buy from you when you offer exactly what they need in the sub-niche of their choice.

You can create multiple gig listings for free so don’t be afraid to niche down.

7. Be online

Fiverr lets customers know when their sellers are online. You can turn off that option if you want. Sellers who are online more gets more orders than those who aren’t online as much.

How to make money on Fiverr without any skills?

Believe it or not, you can make money on Fiverr without any skills. How? You’ll create a listing and when someone orders it from you, go order it from someone else who offers the service cheaper. Once you got the product, give it to your customer.

The most important thing is to create an attractive listing with descriptions that get customers to buy from you.

Final thought

There’re a lot of opportunities to make money on Fiverr with all different kinds of services. It’s quite probable to make an extra $500 per month if not a full-time income on Fiverr.

If you don’t like working for someone else, you can try and become an independent freelancer on Fiverr. Make sure you can consistently make equal or more than what you make at your day job from Fiverr for 3 months straight before you quit your job. You should also have 3–6 months’ worth of expenses saved up for good measure. Good luck!
