15 Different Types Of Food Blogs You Can Start Today

Are you thinking about starting a food blog? Did you know that there are so many different types of food blogs you can start? Yes, a recipe food blog is only one of many different types of food blogs out there.

In this article, you’ll learn what each of these kinds of food blogs is about and you can use this to help you decide what kind of food blog you should start.

let’s go!

1. Recipe food blogs

Recipe food blogs are food blogs that are dedicated to recording different recipes. It’ll have a lot of pictures and images and may even include videos.

You can post pictures of your cooking on Instagram and tell them to visit your blog for recipes. You can also post videos on YouTube. Tell your viewers to visit your blog if they want to get the recipes.

I would recommend you to buy a theme specifically for food blogs as they have all the things that a food blog may need such as the ingredient list, the cooking time format, etc. It’ll make your blog look a lot more like a food blog.

2. Cooking gadget review blogs

You can create a blog to test out different cooking gadgets. It’s best to post videos of yourself testing out the gadgets on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram to gain traction first as it can be hard to describe and demonstrate how well the gadget functions through words. This is why videos would be a great format to cover a food gadget review content.

You can make money from selling the items (affiliate marketing) and since your readers come to your site specifically to decide whether to buy something, your ad revenue should be pretty high.

3. Specific ethnic food blogs

There are so many different ethnic foods:

  • Korean
  • Irish
  • Japanese
  • Mediterranian
  • Ethiopian

Depending on your experience, it can be quite easy for you as you may already know the recipe by heart and can tweak it to your liking. No one else would have your advantage as you may have grown up with these ethnic foods.

4. Vegetarian food blogs

There are a lot of vegetarians in the world. If you’re a vegetarian, you can create a food blog specifically for vegetarians. To connect with your readers better, you should be a vegetarian too.

People don’t like it if you lie to them. There’s a “vegetarian” blogger on the internet who got exposed and it didn’t end well.

Only get into this space if you’re genuine.

5. Healthy eating food blogs

More and more of us are looking to eat healthier. You can join the healthy eating movement by creating a food blog dedicated to healthy eating and healthy living.

Depending on your domain name, you may even be able to expand your field to healthy living such as yoga.

However, I would suggest you stick to the food niche if you want to establish yourself as an authority figure in the space.

6. Food blogs for children

Do you have children? You should create a food blog! Children can be picky so if you can solve most parents’ problems by teaching parents how to make food that their children will love, you may be able to create a well-received brand and make lots of money.

7. Food blogs for single people

Most food blogs out there are catered to families with several people in them. For single people and young working professionals, it simply isn’t a good idea to create a whole pot of roasted potatoes as the recipe suggested. Sure, you can change the serving to 1 person but there’s something about having a food blog dedicated to helping single people with choosing what to eat.

I’ve yet to see a well-established food blog in this space so maybe you can be the first!

More and more people are expected to be single for their entire lives out of their own choices so I can see this type of blog becoming more popular and sought after in the future.

8. Food blogs for large families

The opposite problem can spell true. Maybe create a blog specifically tailored to helping people with large families think of what to cook on a budget. Many may also get to know your own large family as well and in the process, you can gain a lot of valuable connections.

9. Food blogs for those with a gluten allergy

Some people are allergic to gluten. It’s obviously a hassle to think of what to eat for those with gluten allergies. This is where you can come in. You’ll teach people how to make food that they’ll love while making sure their gluten allergy is well taken care of.

10. Restaurant review food blogs

Do you like to travel and eat food? Well then, you should have a restaurant review food blog.

You don’t even have to travel for it. You can just visit your nearby city. I’m sure there are a ton of restaurants to try and document.

You can make it into a vlog to post on YouTube. Your brand can have food as the main topic but you can also cover your lifestyle as well if you want.

11. Weight loss food blogs

This type of food blog is designed to help people become skinnier and lose that extra pound.

It would be great if you also set goals to lose weight and track your progress with your followers. They’ll see your improvement and be more willing to keep up with your brand.

This is also where you can sell them books and courses on recipes to lose weight for instance.

12. Quick easy meal food blogs

Many of us are always running out of time so we are tempted to order takeout. Problem is that takeouts are less healthy and can be quite costly. You can create easy meals that are quick to make and post your recipe and process on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Those who don’t have a lot of time would appreciate your content.

13. Organic homegrown food blogs

This is a blog that I haven’t seen yet but it could become more popular as people realize how they may have to grow their own food as food prices continue to rise out of control.

You can teach people how to grow and cook their own food. It could be very fun and the knowledge would be very useful in the event of a war and the supply chain breaks down.

14. Cooking on a budget food blog

Everything is getting more expensive and many people’s wallets are feeling the brunt of it. Learning how to cook on a budget is something that many will want to learn in the coming years. You can jump on the wagon and create a brand around this topic. This will not only help those who are struggling with finances but also help yourself with your own finances as well.

There’s a channel on YouTube called Great Depression Cooking and it’s a collection of videos of a granny teaching people how to cook for cheap. The way that she survived through the Great Depression. Based on the number of views on all her videos, you can bet that many would be interested in learning more about this topic.

15. Baking food blogs

You can teach people how to bake in your baking blog. You’ll only cover baking and nothing else. You won’t talk about how to cook noodle soup because your brand is baking, not general cooking.

Niching down can help you establish authority faster.

Final thought

There are truly so many angles you can go about creating a food blog. There are also so many food blogs out there already so you must do your best to stand out from the crowd. I hope I have given you some great ideas on how to do so. 🙂
